INSURANCE COVERAGE INCREASE
On May 20, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act, which extends the temporary increase in the standard maximum deposit insurance amount (SMDIA) to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013. This extension of the temporary $250,000 coverage limit became effective immediately upon the President's signature. The legislation provides that the SMDIA will return to $100,000 on January 1, 2014.

DEPOSIT INSURANCE COVERAGE CHANGE

Effective July 1, 2010 Fairfield County Bank will no longer participate in the FDIC’s “Transaction Account Guarantee Program”.  As a result of this change funds held in noninterest-bearing transaction accounts in excess of the standard maximum deposit insurance amount will not be guaranteed under the TAG Program.  Every deposit account offered by Fairfield County Bank will be insured up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount of $250,000 per depositor.  Choice, Charter, Free Spirit, and Commercial checking accounts along with Interest on Lawyers’ Trust, Municipal Demand Deposit, and Non-Profit N.O.W. accounts will no longer be fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account.

You may speak to a branch representative for specific information regarding the deposit insurance coverage level of your account.  General information about standard deposit insurance coverage levels can also be found at https://www.fdic.gov/edie/index.html.

Customer Connection representatives can be reached at: 1-877-431-7431 to answer any questions you may have regarding this change.
