October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month
October 2010 marks the 7th Annual National Cyber Security Month, a coordinated effort of the National Cyber Security Alliance, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center as well as corporations, educational institutions, non-profit companies and individuals centered on promoting online safety and security. Locally, here in Connecticut, Governor Jodi Rell has declared Cyber Security Awareness Month as well. The purpose of the national and the local dedication of the month of October is to educate individuals and business on how to protect themselves with safe and secure online behaviors and safeguards.
