Ridgefield, CT—December 23, 2025: Fairfield County Bank continues its support of Building Neighborhoods Together (BNT) with a $10,000 donation for their Empowerment Resource Academy.

Founded in 1986, Building Neighborhoods Together, formerly Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, is a HUD-certified nonprofit organization committed to addressing income inequality and homelessness by creating safe, affordable housing, and providing comprehensive housing and financial counseling services to low-and moderate-income families across Fairfield County. BNT stands as the leading provider of certified housing counseling in Connecticut, with bilingual counselors serving both English- and Spanish-speaking clients.

“Fairfield County Bank’s long-standing commitment to BNT’s mission through volunteerism and grants such as this one has contributed tremendously to our success,” said Doris Latorre, Chief Executive Officer at BNT. “The Empowerment Resource Academy is an exciting step forward in financial literacy for our students, and we are very grateful for the Bank’s support.”

Fairfield County Bank has partnered with BNT for well over a decade. Bank mortgage officers have provided first-time homebuyer education classes to BNT clients and volunteered at on-site events focused on financial education. “Financial literacy and education is one of the pillars of the Bank’s commitment to the community we serve,” said Tanya Parker, Fairfield County Bank Vice President and Compliance Officer. “Working with and supporting BNT helps make a lasting impact on the students in our community and ensure they are starting off on the right, financially literate, foot!”

The grant will benefit the Empowerment Resource Academy (ERA), which supports youth financial literacy. BNT is the only agency in the state offering both adult and youth financial literacy and adult housing counseling. In 2026, BNT looks to expand the subset of the community impacted, projecting more than 3,900 youth, young adults, and their families through classes, one-on-one counseling, youth afterschool and summer programs, and partnerships with community organizations, housing authorities, employers, and schools.
