State Comptroller Sean Scanlon Speaks at Fairfield County Bank Sponsored Event
Ridgefield, CT—December 02, 2025: Sean Scanlon, State Comptroller of Connecticut, spoke before Fairfield County Bank clients and employees at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton.
Mr. Scanlon gave a brief overview of the path his legislative and administrative career took to lead him to the Comptroller’s office following his election in 2023. Sean was elected to the State House of Representatives at just 27 years old in 2014, representing his hometown of Guilford. He also discussed Connecticut’s current fiscal landscape and the work his department does to promote economic development in the state while also keeping affordability at the forefront of budget decisions. He then took questions from the audience in an engaging Q & A session.
“Mr. Scanlon has a unique perspective on our economy as Comptroller, and we greatly appreciated his presentation,” said David Schneider, Chief Executive Officer of Fairfield County Bank. “He provided valuable insights into how the State recovered from the 2008 financial crisis and the importance of small business success for our economy. Fairfield County Bank is a committed partner of our business clients and takes great pride in strengthening our community.”
Mr. Scanlon, a lifelong Connecticut resident and dedicated public servant, became State Comptroller in 2023. He was elected the State Representative for Connecticut's 98th District in 2014 and served four terms, spending time as the Chairman of the Insurance and Real Estate committees. Outside of politics, Mr. Scanlon was the Executive Director of Tweed-New Haven Airport from 2019—2022, where he secured a $100 million public-private investment agreement and grew the airport from 80,000 to 500,000 passengers annually. With a strong foundation in health care advocacy and legislative leadership, he now manages the state’s finances, benefits, and pensions and works to ensure Connecticut’s fiscal health. Sean currently resides in Guilford with his wife and two sons.
In lieu of a speaking fee, Fairfield County Bank donated $2,500 to Meals on Wheels of Ridgefield on Comptroller Scanlon’s behalf.
