Fairfield County Bank Joins Connecticut Bankers Association in Supporting Connecticut United Way Emergency Grocery Fund
Ridgefield, CT—December 27, 2025: In coordination with the Connecticut Bankers Association, Fairfield County Bank was one of the inaugural banks to contribute to Connecticut United Way's Emergency Grocery Assistance Fund.
Connecticut United Way recently put out a call for support for their Emergency Grocery Fund program in the wake of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefit losses expected as a result of recent federal policy changes. The Emergency Grocery Assistance fund is in partnership with Representative Jaime Foster, Representative Jennifer Leeper and a bipartisan group of legislators. The Connecticut Bankers Association (CBA) answered with an initial contribution of $1,000, while also relaying the message to all member institutions. Fairfield County Bank subsequently matched the donation.
Fairfield County Bank Chief Executive Officer and the 2024-2025 CBA Chairman of the Board, David Schneider, said, “I am proud of not only Fairfield County Bank but also the CBA for their swift action when called upon by one of our non-profit partners. The Emergency Grocery Assistance Fund will make the difference to countless families across the state ahead of the holiday season.”
The funds raised through the campaign will be used to provide grocery store gift cards in addition to direct food assistance. These $25-$100 gift cards are expected to be distributed by United Way and local non-profits throughout Connecticut ahead of the New Year. Contributions are still being accepted for another round of distribution slated for January.
The Bank routinely steps up when the community needs it most. In addition to yearly volunteer hours averaging over 5,000, corporate contributions made to 300+ organizations, and the Charity of the Month program, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fairfield County Bank launched the Feeding Fairfield County initiative. The program consisted of an incremental $100,000 pledge to local organizations focused on food insecurity, gift cards and direct food support provided to first responders through local restaurants, and a very successful matching gift program.
The mission of United Way of Connecticut is to help the people of Connecticut to thrive through trusted partnerships and innovative solutions. Their unique way of helping includes connecting people to services, early childhood development and education, crisis intervention and emergency response and supporting and strengthening communities.
